Is the funding to assist in finding missing children better used to educate parents on the dangers of online predators or to search for victims of physical predators? There are currently 2279 missing children (some are now adults) listed at the NCMEC website. How much is spent annually by them for the search efforts for these children?
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC) will participate in the 18th season of NBC’s award-winning public service campaign, “The More You Know” according to this recent press release. NBC is running a series of Public Service Announcements (PSA’s) on various parenting topics. Each features a prominent NBC actor.

NBC should be commended on the quality and content of these PSA’s. Somewhat puzzling is why there are none on missing child prevention tips, missing children in general or on how to prevent your child from being a victim of an abduction. Isn’t there supposed to be 800,000 reported missing children each year.
You might question why the NCMEC failed to use this opportunity to raise the awareness of missing children. In light of the recent disappearance of Bryan Dossantos-Gomes, it may too have been an excellent time to address the need for better communication among culturally diverse communities.
