Police are searching for 3-year-old Jaylin Marie Talamantes. She was abducted allegedly by Daniel Escobar, 25 and a woman believed to be her the biological mother Monica Iglesias, 24.
Police spokesman Javier Sambrano said the girl was forcibly taken from the home.
Sambrano told KTSM-TVThursday morning that the child was taken by a man and a woman after they broke into the apartment and assaulted Jaylin’s stepmother
An Amber Alert was not issued as her abductin apparently did not meet the criteria.
Update 02-01-08 KVIA -Jaylin was found and the couple arrested.
Police Officials said they issued a local and regional Amber Alert as soon as possible. “Unfortunately, we don’t live in a perfect world, we live and work in a real world … [these alerts] takes time,” EPPD Spokesman Chris Mears.
Mears said police never issued a state-wide Amber Alert for Iglesias because there are certain criteria that have to be met. “This case didn’t meet those elements,or those requirements. Therefore, it was kept at the local and regional level.”
