Is Gavin D. Prince missing?
Springfield, Mo. Police yesterday activated an Amber Alert for Gavin D. Prince, 2. He was allegedly abducted by his father who authorities believe may be suicidal. Law Enforcement continues to stress when a child is abducted the first three hours are the most critical as 76% of those murdered are within this timeframe. However, apparently for lack of information, the Amber Alert was not issued until the next day.
“This missing persons report was actually taken around 8:30 p.m. (Monday) evening,” Story said. Additional information detectives received Tuesday caused the department to upgrade the report to a possible kidnapping and issue the alert shortly after 1 p.m.
As of Wednesday, he has not been listed at the NCMEC. He is listed at Project Safekids as an Amber Alert but not at the Missouri Amber Alert.
MISSOURI AMBER ALERT does not replace or compete with local abduction alert plans (AMBER or SARAA). MISSOURI AMBER ALERT has been designed to compliment and enhance local plans by providing additional methods of notification and statewide coverage. MISSOURI AMBER ALERT has also been designed to provide a local alert capability in areas where one does not exist, although the development of local plans is preferred.
Update 02-23-07: He is now listed at the NCMEC but no Amber Alert was issued
