There were two Amber Alerts issued recently for missing North Carolina children. One was for child allegedly abducted by her father and the other for a child abducted during a car theft.
The Spindale Police Department in Rutherford County found 3-year-old Kadija Dejahne Littlejohn safe. An Amber Alert issued early Monday has been canceled for six western North Carolina counties. She was allegedly abducted by her father.
An Amber Alert has been issued across North Carolina for a missing 2-year-old girl, Mariah Poland, who was inside a vehicle that apparently was stolen from a convenience store Monday in eastern North Carolina. She remains missing.
North Carolina is where Edwin Sanchez Gonzalez was abducted in early October. He also remains missing.
Update: Mariah Poland, the missing 2-year-old whose disappearance prompted an Amber Alert has been found unharmed in Virginia, authorities said today.
Update: Amy Elizabeth Calvin, the mother of Mariah Poland, has been arrested and charged with misdemeanor child abuse. If she has no criminal record, child abuse is a Class 1 misdemeanor and the penalty is community service.
