Andy Warhol, a pop artist, who is known for his painting of Campbell Soup cans was once quoted as saying, “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes”.
John Mark Karr may not yet be world-famous but when will his 15 minutes of infamy end? On the Today show, he might have made Johnny Cochran or Thomas Mesereau take notice of his explanation of being innocent, not guilty, no convictions etc. If he had only used a catchy phrase like, “if it doesn’t fit…” or showed up in pajamas he may have solidified his position as a passing soon to fade celebrity.
He appeared, contrary to published reports, to believe he was a skilled, professional teacher and would be a viable candidate for a position if not for the negative media attention.
He has appeared on other shows, but you have to wonder when his 15 minutes will end. Should his 15 minutes ever have started?
Update: In a CBS interview with John Ramsey, it was suggested John Karr’s fifteen minutes may still not have ended.
