There have already been questions regarding the Florida Department of Children Services (DCF) handling of the Trenton Duckett case. In mid September, some other Florida children were placed temporarily in the care of DCF after their sister was found murdered. Several questioned that decision too.
It has now been reported Dale Fullwood, father of recently murdered 6-year-old CoralRose Fullwood has been arrested for two counts of possession of child pornography.
He hasn’t been named a suspect in his daughter’s death but admitted to Law Enforcement he was in possession of child porn. How it will effect the investigation going forward is yet to be seen. Everyone can grieve for a father of a murdered child but it is much harder to empathize for someone suspected of soliciting child porn.
His other children were placed previously in the care of DCF after CoralRose’s death on September 17th but were released to her grandparents. The parents were later given supervised parental visits.
After two months in jail, Dale Fullwood was able to make bail, but neither his family or former workplace were welcoming him back Friday.
Update: Police on Friday said they have a DNA profile of a non-family member who they say was involved in the killing of 6-year-old Coralrose Fullwood.
Update 03-16-07: What originally was thought to be a trip to Tallahassee by the mother of Coralrose Fullwood to lobby for more funding for Florida DNA labs, apparently was a campaign to explain child pornograpy.
“Why is this when Florida has a much smaller population than New York and California?” Fullwood said. “The state is supposed to protect its children within its borders and is not doing a good enough job with making clear-cut laws. Florida has too many abductions. We have to find a better solution to prosecuting people who prey on children, especially those who watch child pornography and take it to the next level by seeing a child as a sexual being. Then they take that child and destroy or murder them. It’s got to stop.”
