Which came first, the booze or the boys?
Was it former congressman Mark Foley’s battle with alcohol that caused him a problem or was it an attraction to young boys which drove him to drink. Will this be the next Dateline Predators series, Congressmen arranging to meet young pages on Capitol Hill?
This isn’t an issue of whether he was a Republican, Democrat or Independent. This is a case of someone in a position of power allegedly abusing it. It takes little effort to paint a political party as if all members were represented by him. The fact is it is an issue that should be addresses independent of political affiliation. It is unconscionable to believe politicians of any of the parties failed to recognize his problems.
Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely.
