“Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house we go”
Is this a feel good story because the children Jessica Garcia, 15, and Jose Luis Cerrato, 11 were found safe in Honduras? A convicted child molester, Pedro Mata Rodriguez was deported to Mexico, re-enters this country, and allegedly kidnaps two children. It turns out they were “traveling” with their Aunt, the mother’s sister, Elizabeth Barahona Oneida, 26 and Rodriquez to Texas with the eventual destination to be a “family reunion” in Honduras?
According to law enforcement authorities, Rodriguez won’t be charged with kidnapping or sexual assault, although Avon police plan to charge Rodriguez with failure to register as a sex offender and will let Texas authorities know Rodriguez might be in the state, Avon police Chief Brian Kozak said.
Look at the resources, (manpower, time and financial) to locate these children and we are to understand there are no charges that can be filed against the Mother, Aunt, or Grandmother? Did the mother file a false report or were they kidnapped? Did the Aunt have permission to take the children or were they kidnapped?
When were 11 and 15 year-olds able to travel across state lines, without parental permission, in the company off a convicted sex offender and a 26 year-old adult, leave the country and have no laws broken?
